    Technical information

    • FUNCTION
    • TECHNICAL DATA

    General information:
Chilled ceilings and chilled ceiling sails absorb heat from the room air and transfer it to the transport medium water. Chilled ceilings are usually full-surface suspended ceilings that work according to the radiation principle. Chilled ceiling sails, for example, consist of chilled ceiling elements in an open construction with gaps.
    Radiant chilled ceilings:
Radiant chilled ceilings are passive cooling systems. Heat is transferred by radiation and convection. The respective
proportions are determined by the structure of the chilled ceiling system. Radiant cooling ceilings usually have closed ceiling surfaces. The proportion of radiation here is up to 60 %. The remainder is generated by free convection.
The Type WK-D-KS is suitable for visible installation below bare ceilings as a chilled ceiling sail and for visible installation above open suspended ceilings. Chilled ceiling sails are technically large heat exchangers that are installed under the bare ceiling.
The cooled water flows through the copper tube meanders at a flow temperature of approx. 16 °C. The entire ceiling element is cooled by connecting the copper tube meanders with heat conducting rails on the chilled ceiling sail. All heat sources in the room transfer their excess heat energy to the cooled ceiling surface through radiation exchange and convection. The thermal energy is absorbed by the chilled ceiling sail and dissipated from
    the room via the water.

Standard cooling/heating capacities, depending on the ceiling tile dimensions and meander pitch.

Cooling/heating capacity as a function of Δt (tR - tvm) and the meander division.

Cooling/heating capacities apply to chilled ceiling sails made of steel. Higher values can be achieved with aluminium chilled ceilings sails.

For the heating function, surface temperatures > 35 °C should not be selected for reasons of comfort.

Maximum operating pressure and maximum operating temperature apply in combination with flexible connection hoses.

A maximum of 50 % of the specified heat output can be used in the occupied zone because only the radiation component is effective.

The measurement of a chilled ceiling system is carried out according to the standard cooling capacities (φw, c, a) according to DIN EN 14240.

For comparability, however, the specific performance data on the sail area (φw, c, i) should be provided.

This is the only way to easily determine the achievable cooling capacity based on the possible ceiling occupancy level and to

compare it to the cooling capacity per m2 of floor space that is required for the design.
