Extension of UNISTRA laboratories

Unistra first turned to TROX back in 2007, when its laboratory facilities were being refurbished and upgraded to meet regulatory requirements. Ten years later, it was the obvious choice to call on TROX once again for the extension of the ISIS laboratories, on account of the company's reliable equipment and highly responsive technical and commercial teams.

Energy performance was a core consideration throughout the project. TROX rose to the challenge of its complexity by delivering a full suite of high-performance solutions, ranging from air handling units to Labcontrol systems. This approach ensures reliable, efficient and safe ventilation for the entire building and includes the following equipment: 

• 7 X-CUBE air handling units, providing a combined airflow rate of 150,000 m³/h 
• 34 laboratory fume cupboards, equipped with the Easylab TCU3 system 
• Additional TROX products, including XKA and XSA splitter sound attenuators, CB and CS circular silencers, VFC volume flow controllers, TVA and TVZ VAV terminal units, VDW ceiling swirl diffusers, SL ventilation grilles, WL and WT heat exchangers, and WG external weather louvres

TROX X-CUBE air handling units

“The X-CUBE air handling units offer a number of practical advantages during installation. They are delivered shrink-wrapped, equipped with lifting beams for easy craning, and feature clear identification markings for straightforward assembly," enthuses Carmelo Buttaci, President of HOULLÉ.

The installation of a fan wall within the air handling units also allows more precise airflow control and ensures uninterrupted operation.

Equipment for 34 fume cupboards 

With compliant control systems designed to ensure user safety, enhanced performance and reduced energy consumption, the Easylab solution provides simple and effective control of airflow rates. According to Thierry Muller, Facilities Logistics Manager at Unistra, “The Easylab solution provides real advantages during commissioning: components are simple to wire and connect using RJ45 cables, individual elements can be easily interchanged, and both the control panels and the Easyconnect software are highly intuitive."

A winning outcome for TROX!

Carmelo Buttaci explains, “By working with a single manufacturer, we were able to secure a full suite of ventilation solutions ranging from air handling units to laboratory ventilation systems," all while optimising the installations from both a technical and financial perspective.
